Ultimate Products acquires the country’s largest seller of iPod/MP3 speakers, docking stations and accessories, DAB radios and wireless media. Manchester-based Intempo, which was founded in 2003, supplies all major high street and online retailers including Argos, Amazon, ASDA, John Lewis, Play.com, Comet and Toys R Us.
The acquisition follows UP’s announcement of its 40% order book growth this year, thanks to a raft of UK and international deals with well-known retailers – and comes less than a year after the company acquired Far East based sourcing business, Active Asia. Simon Showman, founder and Chief Executive of Ultimate Products, said: “Intempo is an extremely strong strategic fit with our business. We already have a highly successful consumer electronics division largely selling under our own Prolectrix and OEM brands – This acquisition enables us to offer an aspiring audio brand to our customers around the world cementing our position as a major player in this sector.
